There is no doubt that both Midlothian Ladies and Midlothian Gents are currently struggling to find form. The Ladies slipped to defeat at Galleon, their third defeat of the campaign, but were helped by closest rivals Arbroath going down at Auchinleck. The Ladies have their destiny in their own hands. They are 2 points clear and will top their section if they win their last game at home to Abbeyview on 7 January 2012.
Meanwhile the Gents showed little form in the early stages against Lanarkshire but a late fighting finish saw them steal the points by 2 shots. The Gents have all but secured Premier Division status but unless Falkirk fall at the final hurdle the title is out of reach.

In recent times games between Midlothian and Lanarkshire have provided their fair share of drama. This was no different. With both teams going in to the third match of the series pointless it was important that Midlothian Gents came out with something. Tensions were not eased when the start of the game was delayed by an over-running Seniors game - that would indirectly influence the outcome later. Both teams made a fairly steady start before Lanarkshire began to pull away and built up a healthy lead. But in the closing ends Midlothian started pushing and gradually cut the lead to single figures. Then confusion reigned as the umpires appeared to disagree at what time the final end should be played. Amongst the confusion it was a credit to the players of both Clubs who maintained cool and common sense to bring the game to a conclusion. That ended with Colin Walker securing 2 shots to tie the game 78-78.
